Hi and welcome to my blog. I really think parents need to lighten up; I mean, if parenting was meant to be a serious endeavor they'd offer classes! Oh, wait....

Enrollment Day

Today was enrollment day for all three of my kids. All three of my children will be attending part-time pre-school. The boys will go on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 11:00. Myriam will attend Monday through Thursday from Noon until 3:00. That means that on the T days I have an hour to pick up the boys from school, get all three children fed lunch, and be back to school to drop off Myriam.  In an hour.  By myself!!!!    Children really don’t need fed all that often…right?

I also learned today that because I’m a stay-at-home-type of Mommy I am expected by other stay-at-home-types to join the P.T.O., P.T.A., S.T.U.P.I.D, whatever you want to call it. First off, before I get hate mail I want everyone to know that I firmly believe in the importance of the organization. I come from a long line of joiners. My mom served as Treasurer and Vice-President for many terms during my school years. Her illustrious career ended after she took the Presidency and led her group to the most successful white elephant sale in recorded history. Her mother was also a former P.T.O. President and her mother before her, and her mother before her. In fact it is whispered that one of my early matriarchs founded the P.T.O. Ok, that was a flat out lie but you get my point. But here’s the thing… I’m not a joiner. My name is Rebecca and I’m not a joiner. Whew! That felt good to say!

Fact is if left to my own devices I probably would never leave my house. I’d have our groceries delivered to my front step with the money envelope taped to my front door. I’d have a speaker and camera mounted at that same door so I would never have to open the door to see who was there. Okay that’s not true either. I just don’t want to join the P.T.O.!

For many years PC (Pre-Children, for those of you just joining us), I joined clubs and organizations for fun and for work. I was a Rotarian and Board member for a few Chambers of Commerce I was also a Board member for my Church and had affiliations with several other clubs and service organizations. I was over-involved and super busy and I loved it. If it needed done I did it. If you needed a volunteer I was your girl. But things change when you have kids.

Now I just want to get more than four consecutive hours of sleep a night. I want to have a house that doesn’t look like a family of raccoons lives there. I want ear plugs that really block sound!

I don’t think that it’s fair that other Mommies-that should know exactly what you are going through, should be guilting you into joining their organization just so they can shun you from their little cliques once you join. Ok I finally got to the real reason I don’t want to join.... I know the mommies involved and they’ve shunned me once. Why would I want to give them more opportunities to do it again? Stupid, P.T.O. Bitches! I don’t want to be YOUR friend anyway. YOU are the exactly the type of mommy that MY friends and I make fun of.   Bitches….
