Living! (On the Cheap)--Powell Pumpkin Patch

Powell Pumpkin Patch is located at
25695 Spring Valley Rd outside of Louisburg Kansas.
Still looking for the “Perfect” pumpkin? Want to provide the kids with a ‘down home” fall tradition, that won’t break the bank? Then Powell Pumpkin Patch is just what you’re looking for! Now I might be just a little partial to Powell** because it’s located in my neck of the woods, namely Louisburg, Kansas or because the York family (the owners of this farm) are just about the nicest bunch of people you’d ever want to meet. But I’d also be lying if said that the fact they don’t charge an “entry fee”, like every pumpkin patch I've heard of or been to, wasn't a contributing factor! I just kinda have a problem with being charged to enter, then charged to get a pumpkin, then charged to do anything, but maybe that’s just me.

Powell is open daily 9-6 until Oct. 31st.
I will tell you that the list of amenities is limited. (No Punkin Chunkin here.) But I have very young children so that's really not an issue for us. You have a FREE tractor drawn hayride, FREE haystacks to climb on, FREE nature trail, and FREE picnic facilities available. The also have a HUGE corn maze! The corn maze does cost but it’s pretty minimal. Big kids 12 and up is $3, medium kids 11-6 is $1 and little kids 5 and under is FREE.
My kids who are pumpkin obsessed love, Love, LOVED wandering around the pumpkin patch while looking for their very own, perfect pumpkin—this is a pick your own pumpkin patch. They also liked getting pulled around in those little pumpkin carts. They thought it was awesome that they got to “drive” the tractor, and I loved that I spent less and got much bigger pumpkins out at the patch than I would have spent on a much smaller pumpkin from the grocery store.

As I was writing this article I realized that all of the photos
are of Logan!  The pictures are also from 2009.
Which explains the coat!
Although I do my best to ensure that the information I report is current and correct, I suggest you always follow up for yourself.  If you would like more information about Powell Pumpkin Patch check them out on the web www.powellpumkinpatch.com or just call Grandma Peggy at 913.837.2212, she’ll set you straight!
**I was in no way compensated for this review this is just a tip I like to pass on to my readers and friends.
