Hi and welcome to my blog. I really think parents need to lighten up; I mean, if parenting was meant to be a serious endeavor they'd offer classes! Oh, wait....

Mommy’s Special Time!

It’s 11:38 AM as I write this.  The children are giving me that look.  I believe I’ve seen that look before (maybe on Animal Planet); it’s the look the cheetah gives the gazelle right before she sinks her teeth into the gazelle’s jugular.  It’s almost lunchtime.  The kids are getting edgy; so am I.  Just one more hour until the best time of the day--Mimi Time!  Mimi Time is that time of the day where you kiss your kids, pat them on their precious, round, little heads, strap them securely in their beds and lock them in their rooms!
Mimi Time for those of you who are not of Hispanic descent; because I think it’s just a Hispanic term, is naptime.  The Spanish verb to sleep is dormir.  So it is conceivable that an abbreviated (or perhaps a baby word) form of the word could be Mimi.  Actually, I don’t know the real origins, nor do I care, I just know that those little words make me very happy!
Mimi Time is the most blessed time of the day!  One blessed hour each day when I get to breathe.  One hour that I get to sit and maybe watch something other than pre-school television.  Or maybe get something, anything done without three little “helpers” making it ten times harder than it has to be.  Mimi Time—just the word makes my blood pressure lower, puts a smile on my face and spring in my step.  I love Mimi time.  It’s the bright spot of my day.  Mimi Time is the only time of the day where I can be me, not Mommy, just me.

Mass destruction is hard work....
